Jerry Yan finishes filming on new drama My Magnificent Life
My Manificent Life had experienced on-again-off-again filming for a while, but filming resumed early last month and his finally finished this month. The series stars Jerry, Yedda Chen, Fang Fang, Wang Luo Dan, Liu Wei, and Weng Hong (Yvonne Hong). It is directed by Drunken to Love You’s Chen Ming Zhang. Jerry was originally asked to star in Drunken to Love You, but could not do it at the time so this is a second chance for the actor and director to work together. My Magnificent Life is rumored to be an adaptation of the South Korean drama Shining Inheritance due to it’s similar plot.
Jerry will portray the grandson of a woman who owns a large food company. These two quarrel constantly which will provide some comic relief to the series. He will also find himself as one half of the main quarrelsome couple when he meets Yedda’s character. Jerry’s character sounds immensely difficult so, being that his most famous and most difficult character is Meteor Garden’s Dao Ming Si, he was asked if his new character were similar. Jerry Yan quickly denied any similarities citing that both characters live in different environments therefore making them completely different people. There’s a part of me that hates that they are trying to emulate one of my favorite dramas, but I think this will work for Jerry. The character will make him likable while still hanging on to his cold exterior (He can’t help it), but should also pull him away from Dao Ming Si, even if it’s only for a while.
Jerry Yan in a remake of Shining Inheritance??! I’M SO THERE.
